Other than diet/AIP questions, the top thing I am asked about is our downsizing and minimalism process. March is the perfect time to focus on all-things downsizing, reducing, cleaning and living simply. Spring is around the corner and now is the time to clean up our homes as well as our body, mind and soul.
IT TAKES 40 DAYS TO START A HABIT
Today also happens to be the first day of Lent. For those of you who might not know what Lent is, it is the 40 day period before Easter (Sundays are not counted). A common practice is to choose something to “give up” or change during Lent. This can be a favorite food, bad habit, a lifestyle change, etc. Most experts agree it takes 40 days to start a habit. I don’t think it is a coincidence Lent is 40 days long. Many people find their Lenten discipline is easy to stick with after Lent is over.
A FEW PRINCIPLES WE’LL KEEP IN MIND OVER THE NEXT 40 DAYS:
-
A place for everything and everything in its place
-
The 24 Hour Purchase Rule
-
Everything we own should be meaningful enough that we want it displayed or useful enough that we use it at least quarterly
Make sure to watch my Facebook Live video replay to get the full information on these principles, they’re going to guide our journey.
(if you don’t have time to watch the full video it starts at the 17:48 mark)
