Introducing Savvy Saturdays/ Sundays!!!!

Hi blogging world!!! This is something I’ve been wanting to add for a while now but something about having a 2 year old and 2 jobs has meant I don’t get to spend as much time blogging as I’d like to.

However, I’m really going to try and keep up with it a but more because I have been getting such good feedback from you, my readers that you like what I’m doing so I’m going to stick with it.

Today I introduce Savvy Saturdays/ Sundays…

My goal is to post twice a month about tips we’ve found to save big bucks in our quest to get out of debt!

Today I want to tell you about how we’ve saved money and, more importantly created a healthier home for our family with cosmetic choices.

First of all- EVERYONE needs to watch this video… cosmetics are scary and I believe that a large part of the reason our nation is so plagued by disease and pollution are because of cosmetics.  Watch this…

The cosmetics industry has done a really good job of convincing us we NEED all this $*%& and that it is safe… the more you use it the more you need to use in the future to create the same effect.  Look at acne solutions- generally people start out w/ something mild and end up needing something stronger and stronger to keep acne at bay.

You can save hundreds if not thousands of dollars by switching your cosmetic choices.  EVERYTHING in my bathroom is edible, organic and I can pronounce it.

If you can’t pronounce something please don’t eat it and don’t put it on your body.

I clean my entire house and my body with the following items: baking soda, vinegar, salt, apple cider vinegar, egg shells, coconut oil, olive oil and small amounts of essential oils.

spend around $20 a YEAR on “cosmetics”… this is what many women are spending in a week and filling themselves with horrible toxins.

Many women who are unable to get pregnant find they are able to conceive  by switching what they are using on their bodies.  Your skin is your largest organ and anything you put on your skin gets absorbed into your blood stream (and for pregnant women these cosmetics can cross the placental barrier and get to baby- scary!).   Yes, there is some adjustment time for your body as you switch from these chemical based products to food-based products but the earth, your body, your wallet, and your children will thank you!

In the coming weeks I will share a different “recipe” for each of the cosmetic replacements I use.  Hope you enjoy and I hope you take the challenge of creating your own products!
